Amazing Mosaic Screensaver for Mac

09 Jan in Mac OSX

I remember first seeing a mosaic picture I think it was back in the time of the movie 'The Truman Show'. You know the one where the main picture is actually made up of heaps of smaller pictures, whose colours shape the outlines of the main picture.

Well, there's a little known function in the new Mac Leopard OSX operating system that gives you this effect and it does this in an ongoing screensaver. Here's the trick to it all and you can either (or both) click the video or/and read through the description below.

Navigate into System Preferences and select the Desktop & Screensaver icon.

System Preferences

Select the Screen Saver screen and scroll down into the 'Pictures' section and you'll see a 'Choose Folder' option.

Mosaic-Pictures-List

Click this and choose a folder of pictures you'd like to form the mosaic from. Remember here that you also must have an iPhoto Library. Now click the Mosaic option and the work is now done.

Mosaic-Option-1

Your Mac will render 'The Truman Show' mosaics quickly and without any other input from you (do click the Option button to make sure you're happy with performance).

Incredible effects.
