Drupal Templating

Pretty well normal human behavior.

I've always thought Drupal was a nasty CMS - probably as that's the first impression I was given by someone who introduced me to Joomla :)

Well, having worked with Joomla for quite a while now, I've come to realise that Joomla isn't really the best CMS when it comes to quality components and, more importantly, a robust and configurable Shopping Cart. Yeah that's a big call I know but this realisation has come about once I happened to actually look further into what Drupal had to offer.

I've a pending project that is going to need a great deal of scope and flexibility. Membership, subscriptions, shopping cart that can presumably do auctions, donations, take fees as well as different merchant facilities and shipping types. To be honest, Joomla only really has VirtueMart and this application whilst comprehensive has an enormous number of flaws and problems in the way it operates. Even the simple matter of a direct purchase WITHOUT having to register with the site is horrendous.

Drupal on the other hand is populated by the more experienced technical end of the CMS food chain. They're extremely quick and responsive regarding issues with code anomalies and the shopping cart that's the de-facto is sensational with an huge array of additional scope. I was blown away by how professional and slick it operated. Really very cool.

The one area I've got to cover off is the templating. Being slien in nature (at the moment) I'm hunting down some background info on how easy/hard the templating is to do. From cursory Googling, I'm informed the templating is the best there is so the unt now continues.

More as I know more ...... Stay tuned.
