My Own Battle Between Firefox And Safari
![]()
I've used Firefox since the early days of it's release. I love it, along with all it's extensions.
Extensions such as Firebug, Web Developer, MeasureIt and Colour Picker - to name but a few. And now there's the social networking extensions like Digg, Delicious and StumbleUpon. These have been an enormous benefit to Firefox's success as well as kicking the ass out of IE.
Since getting my Mac 8 months ago, I been using Safari more and more for general. And that's simply because I think it has a faster brosing experience. It's also more integrated into the OSX operating system. This allows using some hidden treasures in OSX like the Summarize service, making Dashboard Widgets direct from the browser. What I find, though, is I miss the availability of most used 'extensions'.
I'd love to know what it takes to code even the more minor stuff like Digg, Delicious and StumbleUpon. These additions would be incredible for Safari. It won't stop me using Firefox as it has it's own rewards.
- Does Safari have available extensibility for programmers?
- Is documentation available for an API?
- What about examples to follow?
- Is there a community behind Safari's public development - not just Apple?
- Who else feels the same way as I do?
